MOSCOW VIRTUOSI CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Founded by Vladimir Spivakov, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, is considered to be one of the most important chamber communities in the world today, featuring some of Russia’s finest conductors and soloists, including the members of the Borodin Quartet, in 1979. The Orchestra has featured as guests and members some of the world’s most talented and recognized musicians and vocalists, including Mstislav Rostropovich, Elena Obraztsova, Yehudi Menuhin, Vladimir Krainev, Saulius Sondeckis, Jessye Norman, Yuri Bashmet, Maxim Vengerov, Hibla Gerzmava, Evgeny Kissin, Mischa Maisky, Denis Matsuev, Shlomo Mintz, Mikhail Pletnev, Giora Feidman, Michel Legrand and Pinchas Zukerman. The Orchestra also won acclaim with its special concert program, “Moscow Virtuosi Today and Tomorrow”, featuring its principle conductor and soloist Spivakov, and including young virtuosos such as Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovitj, Israeli cellist Danielle Akta and Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev. The Orchestra also provides concerts to benefit gifted children. In addition to performing in renowned festivals and halls throughout the world, the Moscow Virtuosi has recorded a range of work, including that of 20th-century composers with Baroque styles, to period composers. The Orchestra is considered to be among the world’s best chamber orchestras, with an international audience, widespread fame and critical acclaim.
